Melissa Davis-Crump.....Owner, Photographer
Melissa grew up here in San Angelo, Texas. As a child she had a quiet fascination of the “magic” of photos and how camera equipment worked. Throughout high school and her early 20s, she took photos as a hobby.
In college, Melissa enrolled in every photography course offered. Melissa graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Journalism and Radio/Television Communications from Angelo State University. In May 2010, she graduated again from ASU with her second bachelor’s degree in Art Graphic Design and Marketing. She has also taken courses at the New York Institute of Photography.
At Angelo State, she was a photo lab assistant for over two years. Melissa worked very closely with students to help them learn how to correctly use 35mm manual cameras, process 35mm film, and print photos. She continues to take classes and attend workshops and strives to continue learning about photography and practicing new techniques. Melissa was also an active member of the Kappa Pi art fraternity while attending Angelo State.
Melissa worked as a photographer for the Angelo State newspaper and entered her photos in several exhibits and shows. She won an award in 2009 from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association for her editorial photography. Melissa has worked for two in-store photography labs. She worked as lead photographer for a West Texas based mixed martial arts magazine and her photography has been published in nationally distributed magazines. Melissa was involved in a 128-page coffee table book project about San Angelo, Texas in which solely her photography accompanied the narrative of the book. Surprising San Angelo was published in March of 2016. In 2017, she began working for an advertising/marketing company in Austin, TX to provide the commercial photography their West Texas clients needed.
